Jackie Roberts celebrates International Women’s Day with her business partner, Lisa Hughes

Today March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women globally. I have two inspirational women I would like to mention and celebrate. One is Anna Kennedy OBE who set up and runs the charity Anna Kennedy Online that raises awareness of autism and celebrates the achievements of autistic people with the annual show Autism’s Got Talent and the Autism Hero awards. My youngest son, Jack, is autistic and a couple of years ago he sang at Autism’s Got Talent at the Mermaid Theatre in London and it was great for him to get the experience of performing on a big stage. Anna has done so much in raising awareness that autistic children do grow into autistic adults and support and awareness is still required, thank you Anna for your inspirational work.

The other inspirational woman I would like to mention is Dr Frances Kelsey, a pioneer in pharmacovigilance, who refused to be bullied and because of her diligence and stubbornness spared the USA the widespread damage thalidomide did to a generation of children across the UK, Europe and elsewhere globally. By standing up for what she believed was right and refusing to bend to pressure from others she inspires me to stand up to bullying and to not let my principles be undermined by pressure from others. Compliance really matters and she embodies this for me.

Lisa and I launched our business, PharmaGuard Consultancy Ltd, in January and your compliance matters to us. We want to support you in pharmacovigilance, regulatory and across your technical fields to achieve your goals and strategy. Please contact us if you would like to find out more about how we can help you, either email us info@pharmaguard.co.uk or contact us via LinkedIn or our website.

Happy International Women’s Day to all.
